Marketing and Communications Manager

Position Overview:

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for the development of the marketing & communications strategy and the management of assigned internal and external forms of communication. This position will develop and recommend marketing strategies related to advertising, media planning, promotions, database marketing and social media to maximize awareness and revenue for The Mob Museum. 

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Marketing & Communications Manager of the Museum, supporting all areas of marketing and communications strategy and implementation.
  • Work with the Sr. Director of Marketing and Sales on the development of the annual communications plan, inclusive of strategic goals, tactics, workplans, budgets, and metrics for tracking and assessing performance and focused on departmental goals.
  • Write copy for a variety of format from long-form website content to short, snippy headlines.
  • Generate ideas – big and small - and executing them across all channels.
  • Oversee and manage lifecycle of product copy, ensuring copy is accurate, on brand, on time and within the Museum style guide across all print, digital and social media platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with brand, advertising and graphic standards for all Mob Museum collateral through coordination with internal and external partners.
  • Manage external PR agency.
  • Manage the creation, production and implementation of all new marketing materials for The Mob Museum including printed materials, signage, radio, TV, digital and outdoor advertising. Including those for various internal departments; sales, development, content, guest experience, etc.
  • Communicate clearly across projects and people through status meetings and agendas, project plans and regular emails.
  • Ensure that goals, objectives, roles and requirements of projects are clearly defined at kick-off and compile and submit all graphic design requests internally.
  • Partner closely with the Content Department to ensure accuracy of information and collection of assets.
  • Work with Senior Director of Marketing and Sales, internal marketing team and freelancers to create and implement video and photography projects as needed.
  • Manage freelance copywriters and designers as needed.
  • Establish strong relationships with local media and community organizations for cross-promotions and grassroots marketing opportunities.
  • Host, coordinate, and support on-site media visits and on-site photo shoots with external PR Agency.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure internal and external messages are aligned, the impact on all audiences is considered and the company's reputation safeguarded.
  • Inform team of planned events and developments that could impact organization.
  • Assist with execution of web-marketing strategy and Search Engine Optimization initiatives. Regularly evaluate these efforts and strategies and provide recommendations to maximize effectiveness.
  • Participate in and assist with staff special events and sales events as required, including some nights and weekends.
  • Provide regular reporting on advertising, internet marketing, grassroots and promotional outreach and activities.
  • Support the creation of new business and brand extensions by working with the Senior Director of Marketing and Sales to conduct cost/benefit and risk analyses and recommendations.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Marketing and Sales on research and presentation materials for Board meetings and partnership arrangements, such as corporate sponsorships and cross-promotions that grow revenue, onsite visitation, online traffic, and overall public awareness.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Marketing and Sales to formulate and recommend initiatives to address weekly or seasonal slow periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:

  • No less than five years of broad-based marketing and communications experience in cultural, educational, and/or entertainment attraction field. 
  • Three years of experience as a writer and storyteller with strong grammar skills, ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience prioritizing resources and communicating effectively with a large, diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong meeting management and follow up skills; ability to move project through completion.
  • Demonstrable expertise in advertising/promotions and brand stewardship.
  • Knowledge of the Las Vegas marketplace is beneficial.
  • Must be able to generate a large amount of copy.
  • Proven experience as a versatile writer and accomplished proofreader.
  • A talented wordsmith who can work with any number of individuals or departments.
  • Experience with search engine optimization.
  • The mindset to take a brand perspective and see your copy as part of a larger voice for the Museum and not just a one-off piece.
  • Familiarity with commonly used style guides.
  • Understand different language styles that appeal to various target markets.
  • Passion for creating a world-class Museum that is unrivaled in content and recognized for a truly outstanding guest experience. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment.  High integrity and ethical character.
  • Working knowledge of CRM and email campaign tools (Dynamics 365, Constant Contact, Dotmailer, Buzzstream, Excel, Google Spreadsheet, Google Analytics etc.
  • Eagerness for solving problems and a commitment to accepting responsibility. 
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities. 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
