Position Overview:

The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for managing lead generation efforts primarily through digital channels, including website/SEO, paid search, display, social media and e-mail marketing for The Mob Museum. The Manager will execute the web strategy, site optimization with the goal of driving traffic, delivering engaging experiences to customers and prospects, and generating quality leads from these interactions. The Digital Marketing Manager will use customer data and web traffic metrics to create, deploy, track, and measure digital strategies to achieve our growth goals.  The Digital Marketing Manager will report to the Senior Director of Marketing and Sales and play a pivotal role supporting the department and in advancing the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage The Mob Museum’s holistic digital marketing presence, from social media, to digital advertising, to website management and content development.
  • Take a creative approach to the Museum’s social media efforts, paying special attention to historical accuracy while telling the story in an appealing way
  • Test and develop strategies and tactics across multiple behavioral and retargeting platforms, including the maintenance of retargeting lists and ad creative development against key audience segments.
  • Act as The Mob Museum’s brand advocate, ensuring that all creative communications meet brand guidelines (as expressed visually, verbally, tonally, and behaviorally).
  • Actively participate in campaign planning, budget management, performance review, and optimization of paid media campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Oversee and report on monthly acquisition budget, forecasting sales, spend, and key channel metrics. Assist with the annual digital marketing budget.
  • Oversee the growth and optimization of The Mob Museum’s keyword portfolio through testing ad copy, landing pages, bidding strategies, negative key wording, etc.
  • Manage copy and ad design with in-house design team or outsource as needed.
  • Develop and maintain the editorial calendar for the monthly newsletter and all forms of online content.
  • Direct agency in the development and the execution of day-to-day digital marketing activities that increase traffic, conversion, and revenue.
  • Ensure the creation of monthly analytic reports on audience growth, best performing tactics and key conversational threads with the aim to improve strategy.
  • Create email templates, newsletters and campaign automation with Dotmailer to achieve/enable key objectives.
  • Grow the reach and overall effectiveness of our email marketing program by developing short and long term acquisition and CRM strategy for email.
  • Identify content creators and social influencers in key market and work on establishing partnerships.
  • Lead digital contact strategy that drives ticket sales/revenue and loyalty, as well as serve as a key communication vehicle for guests pre and post arrival
  • Leverage key promotional and seasonal merchandising initiatives where applicable, coordinating with other members of the team - Marketing, Content, and Merchandising.
  • Oversee and execute The Mob Museum’s customer acquisition efforts, primarily across SEM, behavioral and retargeting media, paid social, and affiliate channels.
  • Research and evaluate new channels, vendors, and partners for consideration.
  • Serve as Social Media Expert on behalf of The Mob Museum.
  • Stay current with new advances in digital marketing, ad platform updates, social media, and the competitive landscape.
  • Other related duties.

Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of digital marketing experience with an emphasis on acquisition either in ecommerce/direct response or agency environment.
  • Experience with HTML and CSS is required; more advanced knowledge of PHP and JavaScript preferred.
  • Experience with SEO. Specifically, on-page optimization: meta tags, headings, copy, alt text, file size/name, etc.
  • Proficient in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, AdWords Editor and Google Trends
  • Experience with content management systems (particularly dotmailer and SharePoint)
  • The manager must be someone who can put forth big ideas, stunning creative, and spot on copy in support of new content, the projects, and the brand.
  • The manager will be tapped into emerging platforms, aware of other successful campaigns, and will have a vision for success in a competitive landscape. As a member of our lean and agile team, the successful employee will be as comfortable firing off a humorous tweet as they are writing strategy and producing a major campaign
  • Customer acquisition experience across a wide range of digital channels including SEM, display and remarketing, social media, mobile and affiliate programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or managing and/or executing email marketing program(s) leveraging a major email service provider.
  • Proven success in building, measuring, analyzing, and improving acquisition and retention marketing campaigns.
  • High level of technical knowledge to support data-driven, technology-dependent marketing programs (feeds, interfaces, database).
  • Demonstrated history of successful project management: ability to take initiatives, design and lead a project, and see it through to completion.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and delegate tasks to others.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage a variety of projects in different stages at the same time.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.


  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, Journalism, or Humanities (with right experience)
