Graphic Designer (PT)

Position Overview:

Design leading-edge print and Internet-based materials for all areas of visual communications representing the Museum, including exhibition and program graphics, short-term exhibition branding programs, advertisements, web banners, museum brochures, and the Member magazine. Maintain the Museum brand across all materials. Assist in the layout and design of marketing and exhibition pieces.  Collaborate with internal staff, as well as external agencies and contractors on design concepts and production. Using the Museum’s brand standards, the graphic designer will report to The Mob Museum’s Senior Director of Marketing and Sales.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Design and create high-impact advertising, marketing and general Museum design materials for print and digital (including property signage).
  • Design event collateral (rack cards, brochures, posters, flyers, digital ads, etc.) and print advertisements.
  • Design digital advertisements, website and social media experiences.
  • Support graphic design needs of other departments, including but not limited to sales kits, development/fundraising collateral, and education program materials. Specifically focusing on the following items:
    • Collateral
    • Digital
    • Logo design
    • Photo editing
    • Print production
  • Handle in-house print production from template preparation to physical collateral production.
  • Edit and update previously used creative assets to fit current brand standards.
  • Observe and maintain The Mob Museum brand standards with regards to all company logos, images and visuals.
  • Assist in the design of materials that extend the Museum’s brand, such as letterhead, business cards, retail products, etc.
  • At times, work in coordination with the Museum’s freelance designers and other contractors on large-scale projects.
  • Manage workflow and projects in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Provide design feedback and progress reports to the Marketing & PR team.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Exceptional skills across the entire Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong working knowledge of designing for multiple screen resolutions and sizes.
  • Advanced knowledge of typography rules and production specs.
  • Strong vector skills and understanding of iconography, SVGs, and Illustrator.
  • Handle high volume workload, communicate project status, and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be equally comfortable in print and digital/interactive mediums.
  • Ability to proof and edit publications for which responsible.
  • Requires knowledge of printing processes.
  • Must remain current on design production software.
  • A good eye for high-end design and style. Passion for web technologies and graphic design.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Team player who can work effectively across departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to constantly operate a computer or other office productivity machinery.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with personalities from many departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment. High integrity and ethical character.
  • Stay current with design trends and techniques.
  • Portfolio is required.
  • Experience managing and designing for multiple sub brands.
  • Demonstrated success producing high quality creative for print, web and other mediums.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.

Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or a related field required. At least 3 years of experience in design in an agency, in-house or freelance.

*This position will be part-time with an exception from May 7, 2018 to July 13, 2018 (10 weeks), during this time frame the position will have an expectation of full-time hours. Dates subject to change.
