Volunteer and Community Partnerships Coordinator (Part-time)

Position Description:

The Coordinator will assist the Volunteer and Community Partnerships Manager in achieving The Mob Museum’s community outreach and volunteer goals. As part of the Museum’s New Markets Tax Credit funding, the Museum will create, deliver, and report on the agreed upon community benefits. These benefits encompass services to students, families, and seniors in southern Nevada. Additionally, the Museum boasts a robust volunteer program that continues to expand in terms of number of volunteers and available positions.

In order to assist in these efforts, the Coordinator will provide administrative support, including database management; coordination of key outreach and volunteer activities; and assistance in the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement of volunteers. The Volunteer and Community Partnerships Coordinator will play an integral role in the Museum’s success by ensuring the delivery of meaningful services to the community and maintaining a committed corps of passionate volunteers while working toward the Museum’s mission and purpose. 


Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for the volunteer program, education outreach program, and other community initiatives.
  • Communicates via phone and email to respond to inquiries and provide information related to the volunteer program, education outreach program, and other community initiatives.
  • Assists prospective volunteers through intake, orientation, and placement. 
  • Coordinates and assists in leading new volunteer orientation and recognition events.
  • Monitors volunteer rewards and recognition programs.
  • Assists individuals through the education outreach booking process.
  • Maintains education outreach calendar; processes presentation requests; ensures relevant departments are aware and staffing needs are scheduled.
  • Becomes proficient in the delivery of education outreach presentations.
  • Maintains education outreach supplies and materials and coordinates the maintenance of the education outreach vehicle with Facilities.
  • Assists in tracking, monitoring and reporting key metrics associated with the volunteer and community outreach initiatives.
  • Updates and maintains key contacts and interactions in the Museum’s database.
  • Schedules and attends volunteer recruitment opportunities, community fairs, presentations at community centers, community events, schools, etc.
  • In conjunction with the Volunteer and Community Partnerships Manager and the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, maintains an active presence in the community, looking for ways to develop collaborative projects and relationships within the community.
  • Stays abreast of in-house exhibits, educational programs, and related community events to inform existing and potential members.
  • Aid in fostering an organizational culture that values innovation, promotes inclusion, and inspires excellence in the work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience working in an office environment required. 
  • Demonstrated passion for the community and volunteerism.
  • Prior experience planning community services, activities and events preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to speak before small and large groups; answer questions; and give information.
  • Highly organized, thorough, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to take ownership of problematic situations using proper judgment to find possible solutions or alternatives while maintaining positive guest relationships.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, community organizations, and the public.
  • Ability to engage individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience working with CRM preferred.
  • Able to constantly operate a computer or other office productivity machinery.
  • Ability to use common office equipment such as computers, copiers, shredders, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Available to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing or access to reliable transportation.

  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities. 
  • Occasional periods of extended standing.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred. Experience teaching or working in educational/instructional role is a plus.
