Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Videographer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Museum’s mission of advancing the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society. Working closely with the Museum’s Content and Marketing functions, this individual will develop, design, record and edit video content including oral archives, interviews, and live events/programs for use in the Museum’s website, microsites, marketing/promotional materials, programs and exhibits. Responsibilities are focused on managing and directing video projects from start to finish. This will include working with all departments to outline and/or script video projects, operate video equipment, manage location, and completing post-production activities, including: reviewing footage, audio and color, final editing, and delivery of final film assets in various formats. 

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Record video segments lasting up to 1.5 hours.
  • Create new or re-purpose videos as needed throughout the Museum.
  • Create or add upon live productions.
  • Record, mix and live stream programs and events.
  • Help standardize the video work flow.
  • Develop, design, and edit video content for programs, exhibits, promotional videos, website and microsite(s).
  • In consultation with internal staff, perform final editing of video materials including reviewing footage, audio and color, final editing, and delivery of final film assets in various formats.
  • Manage file storage: organizing, categorizing and archiving all projects.
  • Effectively manage multiple video projects simultaneously, producing high quality content on time and on a budget.
  • Perform proper maintenance of cameras and other A/V and production equipment.
  • Maintain proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio, and video records, and other production equipment.
  • Transport, set-up, and operate various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones
  • Work with different types of existing video source files and convert/format them for use online and on social media.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in video productions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in film studies, video production or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge competency with the following: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Must have ability to communicate clearly, direct and manager video projects from start to finish.
  • Must have the ability to take direction, create solid story boards and/or rough cuts, and ability to create a complete script
  • Must be able to work effectively with all departments at all levels within the organization.
  • Weekend and evening availability on an occasional basis, which can be as frequent as several times per month.
  • Passion for creating a world-class Museum that is unrivaled in content and recognized for a truly outstanding guest experience.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.
  • Ability to operate video equipment, edit select footage and stays up to date with new technological advances.
  • Must be able to operate various pieces of general office equipment, including computers, copiers, and other office machinery.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, stand for extended periods of time, work at heights including climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, and work in spaces of limited lighting.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting.
  • Passion about video production technology
  • Must have reliable mode of transportation for travel within Clark County, NV.
  • Broad based understanding of various video/photo formats and codecs.
